Isobutavan has a sweet and creamy vanillic character reminiscent of white chocolate, cream soda with a soft apricot feeling. Isobutavan is much less discolouring than vanillin or ethyl vanillin and can be used at levels up to 2% including in toilet soap fragrances before discolouration becomes a problem. It is less powdery than vanillin and has a more creamy effect.
