Exaltone (Firmenich); aka cyclopentadecanone Fragrance Family: Musk Odor Description: Musk, sweet, animalic, powdery Powerful musky odor, very similar to that of Muscone (Methylcyclopentadecanone) and, in the opinion of many perfumers, superior in type and beauty. It ranks among the finest and most efficient fixatives known, and like Cyclopentadecanolide it improves the wearability of a perfume when properly incorporated in the fragrance. Its power becomes more perceptible and evident in extreme dilution, e.g. below one percent in the perfume oil Use Level: Traces - 1%
These share the same CAS number (502-72-7) — the same core molecule sold under different trade names. They're close to interchangeable, but purity and isomer ratio can cause subtle differences in strength and character, so treat them as near-identical rather than exactly the same.
